SJR 8225 passed statewide with 52.01%! In King County it received 59.79%!
We're glad that the voters of Washington agreed with the idea of saving money. Even though this seemed like an accounting trick to some, it will result in real money going into our schools and public services.
Washington Judge Bail Authority Constitutional Amendment
The 46th District Democrats took a position in opposition to this Constitutional Amendment.
This measure passed statewide with 84.62%. In King County it received 84.49%.
We knew this was going to be a tough choice for voters. Our concerns about constitutional rights did not sway people. We hope this will not result in civil rights violations, but we also hope that our police officers stay safe while they keep us safe.
I-1053
The 46th District took a position against this Initiative.
This measure passed statewide by 63.75%. In King County it received 53.65%.
This was a well funded campaign, reacting to the legislature changing the rules of a previous initiative. This was another hard sell to the voters, and we are very concerned about our budget for the upcoming two year session of the legislature. The cuts that will be required will hurt a lot of people.
I-1082
The 46th District took a position against this measure.
This measure failed, with 59.09% of the voters of Washington voting no! In King County, 63.00% vote against it!
We're glad that the voters agreed with our Unions that privatizing the Workers Comp system would not be a good idea.
I-1098
The 46th District took a position in support of this measure.
This measure failed, with 64.15% of the voters of Washington voting no. In King County, 54.59% voted against it.
The tax structure of our state makes it very difficult to manage our finances, support our public services, and provide for the real needs of our citizens. Washington State has THE most regressive tax system in the nation, putting more burden on the middle class and lower incomes than anywhere else. We have been attempting to fix this since the Great Depression, and we will continue to advocate for fair taxes and public services.
I-1100 & I-1105
The 46th District took positions against both of these measures.
I-1100 failed with 53.43% of the voters in Washington saying no! In King County, I-1100 failed with 51.44% voting no! I-1105 failed with 65.04% of the voters of Washington saying no! In King County, I-1105 failed with 69.37% saying no!
As restrictive as our liquor laws might be in this state, the current system employs a lot of good people, keeps our children safer and helps provide a revenue for needed public services. We're glad that the voters of Washington agree.
I-1107
The 46th District took a position against this measure.
This measure passed with 60.44% of the statewide vote. In King County, 53.19% voted no!
We can understand the grumbling about taxes being applied to unnecessary items like soda and candy. These minor taxes helped to fill the gap in 2010 in order to balance our state budget. How that gap will be filled without those taxes will be the job of our Legislature in the coming years. We will be working closely with them to support our schools and public services.
Referendum Bill 52
The 46th District took a position in support of this measure.
This measure failed to pass, with 53.77% voting no statewide. In King County, 56.70% voted in favor!
This was a combination of energy efficiency, jobs and our schools that we thought was a great idea. We're disappointed that more people didn't agree.
