King County Democrats to launch major communications blitz for the 2005 Democratic Nominating Convention.

The major political parties have announced their intentions to challenge the top-two primary system on the grounds that it is unconstitutional.

In an effort to make the process as open and easy as possible, the King County Democratic Central Committee has launched a communications plan to educate the voters in King County.

Susan Sheary, Chair of the King County Democrats stated, "While we are still unsure if we will be using the nominating process, we want to make sure that the public knows the Democratic Party in King County will do everything it can to make this process open and accessible to all who want to participate." The County Party has developed a flyer that will be used by Legislative Districts and Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) to get the word out.

The King County Democrats have tentatively scheduled their nominating process for June 28, 2005 - 7:00 pm. The convention will take place at the Bellevue Community College Gymnasium. PCOs will nominate Democratic candidates for King County Executive and nine District Council Positions. All King County PCOs are eligible to vote for the Executive position. Breakout rooms will be used to select Council candidates by the District PCOs.

A downloadable flyer and more information will be available at www.kcdems.org.

We have a copy of the flyer here.
