Learning the lessons of the Howard Dean 2004 campaign, Senator Barack Obama directed his campaign staff to push the limits on political social networking in order to tap into the full potential of the Internet to build his ground forces for both the Primary and General election. We saw how effective this was in Iowa in January, Washington in February, and Nationally on November 4th.

Plaxo.com began as a address book management tool, allowing people to share and quickly change their own contact information while staying up to date with changes from their friends and families. This has grown into a full social networking tool, where we are able to see what people are posting and working on in near real time.

LinkedIn.com is a business networking site that is quickly growing into a tremendous networking tool for professional connections. The King County Democrats have a group on this site for networking around the county.
